The Canal Market District is rooted in history, culture, and local bounty. The market is located at the historic Ohio Canal open-air pavilion in downtown Newark, Ohio (May-October) and the historic Newark Arcade (indoor winter market November-April). The atmosphere is full of energy and excitement, with over 20,000 annual shoppers chatting with farmers, meeting artisans, and becoming an active part of the community.

Outdoor Market
The Canal Market District farmers market operates every Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, May through October. We're open rain or shine because of our open-air covered pavilion (36 E Canal St, Newark OH 43055).
Indoor Market
Our indoor winter market takes place from November-April inside the newly renovated Newark Historic Arcade (31 N 3rd St, Newark OH 43055) with over 25 vendors, and up to 22 additional permanent businesses operating inside the building.

Yes! We are included in the Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) in Downtown Newark. A DORA allows persons aged 21 and older to purchase alcohol from approved businesses and walk around the DORA District. This means you can bring your alcoholic beverages to our market by picking up a wristband at one of the approved establishments.
